Did 18th century plantation owners have a different definition of "greatness?" What can the layout of the current grounds tell us about the Snowdens and their status? In this daylong symposium, architectural and landscape historians will examine Montpelier and its environs to reveal what the Snowden estate meant to its owners and their peers, neighbors, servants and slaves.
