Open Listening Series Around County Planned To Announce 2019 Education Goals and Hear Parents

On July 1, when Dr. Monica Goldson became the CEO of Prince George’s County Public Schools. she promised to encourage greater involvement by parents and teachers in the progress of students’ growth.

Toward that goal. Goldson will hold a series of listening sessions to share her plans for the school year. The new CEO seeks to hear what ideas, concerns and solutions parents, teachers, and those interested wish to contribute.

A Good Start

The new school year has moved forward with a lot of firsts and innovations.

Things seem to be starting off with a bang including national recognition, a new education program and an open door policy. Looks like high marks are starting the school year.

*Congratulations go to Glenarden Woods Elementary School in Lanham for being 1 of 362 schools recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos as a 2019 National Blue Ribbon School. This award recognized public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on their overall academic excellence and progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

*Potomac High School is preparing to launch 3DE — an innovative new model bringing real-world experience into the classroom through a partnership with Junior Achievement of Greater Washington as well as local and national businesses.
