Light Up The Night
National Harbor Kicks Off The Holiday Season With Two Million Twinkling Lights
Since 2008, National Harbor Has been a destination point for residents and visitors inside and outside of the beltway. Five-Star hotels and restaurants offer a large selection of places to stay and dine. The entertainment is nothing short of jaw-dropping with such performances by Bruno Mars, Cher, Cirque de Soleil, Ricky Martin and Tom Jones, to name a few, and such events as ICE!, the Annual Crab Festival, and the National Harbor Cherry Blossom Festival.
The Coronavirus Pandemic brought a halt to travel, celebrations, in-restaurant dining, and congregating. While residents are encouraged to remain at home, many wonder how the holidays will be celebrated.
Maintaining safe practices, National Harbor continues their annual celebration of this season of joy by kicking-off the season with the Outdoor Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at the National Harbor Waterfront district from November 14 through January 3. Featuring a 56-ft tree and light show boasting two million twinkling lights, the show takes place daily, every half hour from sundown to 9 p.m. On weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) there will be snowfall over the tree every half hour during the light show. This year, to maintain social distancing, National Harbor ask guests to form a line and follow the directions that will be given so that all may safely enjoy this holiday event. (There will be no fireworks this year}
