The event includes a 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run for men and women of all ages. Registration is at 7:00 a.m. for the 10 and 5K races, which begin at 8:00 am. There will also be a wellness expo, music and farmers market after the races. The participants will race to the finish line at Waterfront Street, after passing Southpointe, The Plateau on Harborview Avenue, and conclude the competition at National Plaza.

The event also celebrates International Children’s Day, recognizing people from Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Organizers want to encourage youth to play a larger role in tackling the problems that confront them both locally and globally. Sponsored by the Ariel Foundation International, which promotes leadership, entrepreneurship and community service, several ambassadors will start the event.

Another sponsor, the Office of the County Executive for Prince George’s County will be in attendance. County spokesman John E. Erzen said “This is the first year for the event, but as of a week ago 500 people have signed up.”

Mark Mooney of Riverfront Revolution added “This is a family event. All ages are invited. This event was created to support a foundation for at risk kids in the areas of obesity and other health care issues.” There will be awards for the winners and crafts, games and entertainment for the entire family.
