The limited edition 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt doesn’t need to prove its muscle on the street, because it belongs on the racetrack. Named after the 50-year-old movie “Bullitt”, starring the late Steve McQueen, it was one of the first popular car chase movies. Ford’s Mustang Bullitt played in a starting role.
It’s been decades since the original Mustang Bullitt disappeared and reappeared January 2018, after being abandoned in a family garage. It’s now up for auction and is expected go for millions. Built on the Mustang GT platform, the same Dark Green color is available with the new model.
The 2019 Mustang Bullitt delivers a whopping 480 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. It comes loaded with advanced safety and technology features and an abundance of standard performance enhancements including a performance exhaust, 3.73 Torsen limited-slip differential, and red Brembo brake calipers.
The six-speed manual transmission on the limited production Bullitt can be driven in various modes for normal, sports or in track mode for racetrack enthusiasts. It races from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds.
I tested a preproduction model which didn’t have a listing price. However, the base MSRP for the Bullitt is $46,595. But due to the high demand" for the limited-production model, the 2020 model saw a $1200 increase.
