Mitsubishi plays catch up with its competitors with the beautifully redesigned 2022 Eclipse Cross and the Outlander SUVs. The sheet metal, interior, and exterior look and feel surpass its former self with styling, quality, and lots of unique technology.

The new Outlander and Eclipse Cross are sure to attract more SUV customers to Mitsubishi showrooms. Completely reimagined, the new front end has a European flair, while the interior gets upgraded materials. One has to look twice to see they are Mitsubishi vehicles.

2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

Launched in 2018, the Eclipse Cross was redesigned as a sporty compact SUV and redone for 2022, after haunting production in 2021. The Eclipse Cross returned with a redesigned exterior and interior style, a retuned suspension, as well as better gas mileage. In addition, it has more standard active safety features, including automatic emergency braking, lane departure, and forward-collision warnings.

Models/Pricing: The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross comes in four types – The base ES model starts around $23,695, LE ($25,045), SE ($26,445), and the top of line Cross SEL begins at $27,695 MSRP.

Power: The 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, generates 152 horsepower, mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Fuel Economy: The Eclipse Cross averages 26 city/29 highway mpg. All-wheel drive gets around 25 city/28 highway mpg.

2022 Mitsubishi Outlander

The completely redesigned 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander has an improved ride performance, a sleek new exterior, premium quality materials on the inside, and more standard safety features. Although the new Outlander is larger inside and out with three rows that seat seven passengers, it is still a compact SUV. The inside has an entirely modern look compared to the previous model. It comes with a heads-up display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 9-inch center screen.

Models/Pricing: The Outlander offers five different trim levels – ES ($25,795), SE ($28,845), SE Launch Edition $29,995), SEL ($31,945), and the SEL Launch Edition AWD ($35,345).

Power: The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander receives its power from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 181 horsepower. It is paired to a continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but AWD is optional.

Fuel Economy:  The Outlander gets an EPA-rated 24 city/31 highway mpg. The AWD model averages 23 city/30 highway mpg.
