Ask anyone who knows and they’ll tell you. Starting a new business can be a daunting task.

There are many myriad issues a new entrepreneur will encounter. Everything from financing to marketing, legal issues to liability insurance, book keeping to inventory, understanding intellectual property – the list is endless when it comes to becoming a business owner. Many new entrepreneurs are simply overwhelmed by all the things they are expected to know.

Don’t let the heavy work of starting your own business make you drop your dream of becoming a business owner. Instead, plan ahead.

For those of you who have not already started a business, or are trying to figure out how best to start your business, the “Smart Start Your Business” workshop offered by the MD Small Business Development Center, will help you learn the key steps of the process so that you can better navigate the waters to becoming your own boss.

This workshop which is one in a series of three workshops highly recommended for new start-up businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs, will feature presentations by professional experts – an accountant, banker, insurance professional and lawyer – who will share their knowledge with attendees. They will share how to legally define your business and register your business name, keep proper financial records and report taxes, assess the insurance requirements needed to safeguard your business and personal assets, evaluate alternatives for accessing investment and working capital, and more.  

The workshop will take place April 19 from 1pm to 5pm at Prince George’s County/Corridor Region SBDC, Executive Building, 7100 Baltimore Avenue, College Park, MD 20740. Click here to register for the workshop which costs $50.
