To honor Women's History Month, FSC First, Prince George’s County’s small business financial support arm, hosted 100 women entrepreneurs on March 22 at "Bloom: Celebrating Women Entrepreneurship, Growth & Prosperity."
The event celebrated the accomplishments of women in business, highlighting the resilience, creativity, and ambition of female business owners who are making significant impacts in their respective industries.
Yakita Wilkinson, FSC’s Level Up Program Manager, explained that the event’s goal was, “For all women to bloom regardless of the thorns and the setbacks, and the setup that they can still continue moving inside of the challenges that they face on a daily basis with their family and within their businesses.”
Letricia Loftin Russell, Little Miss Black US of A pageant director, moderated the event, joined by guests from Fray Development, M&T Bank, Vent Suite Massage & Spa, and Sisciety, who shared valuable insights and entrepreneurial stories.
Wilkinson said, “We had a balance of all kinds of women there from coaches and consultants that we work with; resource partners from the Department of Commerce, SBA, Bowie BIC, and MBOC was there. And we were able to also share their resources as they relate to women. So that was exciting as well. It was just a such amazing experience.”
Coming up, FSC First presents its “Step Into Success” Gala and Sneaker Ball Thursday, April 18th at The Hotel at UMD in College Park. The event will spotlight remarkable achievements within the local business community.
