Maryland Launches AI Dashboard to Track Jobs, Risks, and Economic Change

Marylanders now have a new window into how artificial intelligence is reshaping the state's economy. The Maryland Comptroller's Office has launched the Maryland AI Economic Impact Tracker, a public dashboard designed to help residents, businesses, researchers, and policymakers understand where AI is creating opportunities and where it could bring disruption.

The online tool brings together data from government agencies, universities, and private-sector sources to monitor AI's effect on jobs, business investment, and economic growth. While the dashboard is aimed at informing policy decisions, it also offers practical insights for workers, students, employers, and job seekers.

One of the most visible features will be its focus on employment trends. The tracker highlights where AI-related jobs are being created and tracks demand for technical AI skills across Maryland. So far in 2026, the state has recorded roughly 3,600 job postings requiring AI-related expertise. For Marylanders exploring careers, training programs, or workforce transitions, the dashboard will provide a clearer picture of where opportunities are emerging and which industries are hiring.

The tracker also examines the other side of the equation: potential job displacement. Using national research and forecasting models, it identifies sectors, occupations, and regions that may be most exposed to automation in the years ahead. Rather than predicting exact outcomes, the dashboard is intended to help workers and communities prepare for changing workforce needs.

Residents may not notice immediate changes in their daily lives, but the information could begin shaping state workforce training, education programs, and economic development strategies almost immediately. Quarterly updates will keep the data current, while a series of research briefs beginning in 2027 will provide deeper analysis of AI's long-term economic and fiscal impacts.

In practical terms, the dashboard does more than show where jobs exist today. It aims to reveal where AI-related jobs are trending, which industries are adopting the technology most rapidly, and where Maryland's economy may be headed next.
