Howard Ernst, a political science professor at the United States Naval Academy, will lead a discussion on how our political views reflect our beliefs about human nature. Are we, as humans, essentially good or selfish? How do our political views affect our views? Is rational selfishness an ultimate expression of your nature? Ernst is an accomplished scholar who also teaches classes in environmental policy, energy policy, and directs the Honors Program within the Naval Academy's Political Science Department. He is a Seiden-Levi Fellow of Public Policy, represents the University of Virginia's Center for Politics as a Senior Scholar, and received his Ph.D. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Government and Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia.
