Pianist Rita Sloan joins life-long friends and collaborators, violinist Lev Polyakin and flutist Martha Aarons, in a program that explores ethnic and eclectic influences in works by Cui, Rota and Ibert. The ensemble also highlights the Eastern European and Jewish effects and jazz and blues impressions heard in American composer Paul Schoenfeld’s works, Souvenirs and Suite for flute and piano. The concert's centerpiece – the Washington-area premiere of Schoenfeld’s Last Silence – was commissioned by Ms. Sloan in memory of her parents.
