Joey Antico’s finesse with all things percussion makes him a well-respected musician and frequently sought after percussionist to share the stage with jazz, rock, funk, and electronic musicians. As a music student at the University of Maryland, Antico frequently performs with University ensembles including the Jazz Lab Band, Jazz Ensemble, and jazz combos. He is also a collaborator with electronic duo Todo Mas, which released their first EP, Good Night and Joy Be with You, in December 2015.
- Antico’s current percussion teacher, Chuck Redd, played alongside jazz giant Dizzy Gillespie, one of Antico’s major influences, for many years.
- Antico’s unbroken roots to the Italian Peninsula have instilled in him a strong love of cooking. Family and friends know first-hand that creating fine food is a love second only to creating fine music.
- Instead of spending the extra money to buy custom equipment, Antico re-works and re-finishes old and damaged drums to create new drums with the exact sound he desires. Antico also crafted a handmade leather stick bag to go along with these new drums.
Don't miss a free workshop with Joey Antico on February 15.
