Tongue in Cheek is one of Maryland’s most popular gigging bands, focusing on traditional New Orleans jazz. Traditional, old-time swing has become extremely popular in this region. Headed by bassist/banjo player Zach Serleth and vocalist Bridget Cimino, the band has helped create a scene, which sometimes includes dancing and always includes loads of fun. Many of the region’s finest musicians enjoy performing with this group. Whether they perform for a sitting or hoofing audience, all are thoroughly entertained. Often arriving in period costume, the musicians offer delightful listening music, mostly written between 1910 and the mid-1930s. Audience members find themselves singing along to songs they heard from grandma and grandpa and the old-time movies. ($)
