Three Dog Night was one of the most popular bands of the 70s. This song came from their 1971 album, Harmony and was written by Hoyt Axton.

Three Dog Night is an American rock band. They formed in 1967 with a line-up consisting of vocalists Danny Hutton, Cory Wells, and Chuck Negron. This lineup was soon augmented by Jimmy Greenspoon, Joe Schermie, Michael Allsup, and Floyd Sneed. (wikipedia)
