In a collaboration with the Brentwood Arts Exchange and under the direction of Professor Jason Kuo, University of Maryland art students curate, design and produce an exhibition featuring local artists. The exhibit will feature the work of Lorenzo Cardim, Victor Ekpuk and Wilfredo Valladares, with a focus on their material investigations, and an exploration of the transnational elements present in their process and productions. These artists, drawing upon their own complex cultural identities, create works that challenge our perception of identity as singular and unchanging. The students create an experience where the conversation between the works highlights the relationship between individual identity and the broader cultural and political issues of today around the world.
