ACTnow: SITI Company Race and Culture Through the Lens of Euripides

  • Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center - Cafritz Foundation Theatre 8270 Alumni Drive College Park, MD, 20740 United States (map)

A great play addresses questions that are relevant and resonant to the human condition. An effective theater experience should trigger passionate speculation and conversation. There are many moments of emotional resonance and relevance in SITI Company’s production of Euripides’ The Bacchae. Soaked in myth, paganism and cult rituals, the play is also perhaps one of the most powerful illustrations of arrogance in the history of theater.
