Noted conductor Theodore Thorpe III will return for the third time to conduct this concert featuring a choir of over 100 voices accompanied by a full symphony orchestra, with interpretations enriched by liturgical dance and drama. Guest artists include 10-time Grammy Award® winners Take 6, a world-class a cappella sextet specializing in jazz-styled sacred music classics.
Returning by popular demand will be Metropolitan Opera soprano Brandie Sutton, along with Alfred Street Baptist Church's stellar psalmists. Selections will be presented from varied musical genres including classical, jazz, and contemporary gospel. Amazingly, Mr. Thorpe, the Take 6 vocalists, and Brandie Sutton all spent their undergraduate years in musical training at Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama, a school known for producing extraordinary musicians.
