Funk Parade is a one-of-a-kind day fair, parade and music festival, celebrating Washington DC's vibrant music and arts, the U Street neighborhood, and the Spirit of Funk that brings us all together.
Festival 1-7pm; Takes place throughout the U Street Neighborhood. This year’s festival will feature 5 different stages and performance areas and additional activations happening throughout the neighborhood. Stage line-ups and stage locations will be announced shortly .
Parade: 5-6pm; The Parade is open to everyone to join. Bring trumpets, trombones, drums, noise makers and join our Marching Bands and dance troupes as they make their way from the Howard Theatre to the Lincoln Theatre.
Night Music Fest: 7pm-midnight; Festival goer can check out live music at over 15 venues throughout the city the night of Funk Parade. The $10 Night Music Festival Wristband is your way to support the future of the festival and the continued work of The MusicianShip. Showcases will be taking place at: Prince Hall Lodge, Tropicalia, DC9, Pearl Street Warehouse, Songbyrd, Archipelago, Local 16, Sollys, Ben’s Next Door, Velvet Lounge, Marvin, Busboys & Poets, The Saloon, Bin 1301, Jo Jo’s, Shaw Tavern and Fainting Goat. The full schedule of performances will be posted on the website in the coming weeks but follow Funk Parade on social media for links to individual showcases. Featured showcase: 8pm (Doors open 7:30pm): The 2019 Featured Showcase will be taking place at the Historic Prince Hall Lodge in the evening of May 11th. Wristbands to the Featured Showcase will be $20 with proceeds going to benefit The MusicianShip. Proceeds from the purchases of food and beverage at the Featured Showcase will go to benefit the Prince Hall Freemason & Eastern Star Charitable Foundation .
