Be prepared to move and connect with your fellow poets using your eyes and ears and hands and heart. We will explore Whitman’s love for the verb and physicalize our poem with feeling when we whisper, shout and sing our lines. This workshop is designed for young students of all reading and writing levels. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

Regie Cabico is a poet who won top prizes in three National Poetry Slams and winner of The Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam. Mr. Cabico is publisher of Capturing Fire Press & his work appears on TEDx Talk, HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, NPR’s Snap Judgement.

This is part of the multi-venue, 12-day Walt Whitman 200 Festival, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of America’s most significant and enduring poets, who was a resident of Washington, DC for ten years during and after the Civil War.
