This event will feature an introductory lecture about Whitman, his unique style, and his legacy, by George Washington University Professor David McAleavey. Following his talk, we will host a poetry workshop. Attendees can either bring existing work, or they will have time to come up with something the day of the workshop.
Finally, if they wish, attendees can share their work with others and receive critiques.
This is part of the multi-venue, 12-day Walt Whitman 200 Festival, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of America’s most significant and enduring poets, who was a resident of Washington, DC for ten years during and after the Civil War.
