Whitman 200: Poetry Hike – Walt Whitman

  • Rock Creek Park (entrance in Mt. Pleasant) Washington, DC 20015 (map)

Join MoonLit founder Kris on a gentle hike through Rock Creek Park and experience the joy of hearing Walt Whitman’s words shared out loud. Bring a poem to share and a notebook to jot down inspiration from the trees, the sky, and one another.

The hike ia a mostly-gentle 2-mile loop with multiple stops to write and share work. There are a few steep hills in the trail. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring something to write with (and a favorite Whitman poem, quote or piece).

This is part of the multi-venue, 12-day Walt Whitman 200 Festival, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of America’s most significant and enduring poets, who was a resident of Washington, DC for ten years during and after the Civil War.
