Pianist Alex Bugnon has been a prolific, energetic force on the contemporary music scene for almost three decades. Bugnon, a renowned musician, composer, and bandleader in his own right, is also the nephew of legendary jazz and R&B trumpeter Donald Byrd. It’s no coincidence that Bugnon is embraced by a rhythm and blues/soul audience. His love of music was rooted in an appreciation and understanding of classic jazz and soul-based artists Horace Silver to Herbie Hancock; Thelonious Monk to Ahmad Jamal; and Art Blakey to Earth, Wind, and Fire.
