Walt Whitman is part of an American tradition of exuberant, free-spirited self-expression. Over the past two years, influenced by the belief that self-expression offers opportunities for wellness and healing, the Bernice Fonteneau Senior Wellness Center has embodied that tradition. Two memoirs have emerged from the Center: Collected Memoirs of the Bernice Fonteneau Senior Wellness Center, available from Lulu, and Recuerdos de Nuestro Pasado available from Thick Press.
Open to all seniors age 60+.
This is part of the multi-venue, 12-day Walt Whitman 200 Festival, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of America’s most significant and enduring poets, who was a resident of Washington, DC for ten years during and after the Civil War.
