The series is part of the Library's annual programming theme to explore America's changemakers. It kicks off with Walt Disney’s first live-action movie to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and ends with the first film in which computer-generated characters interacted with human actors on screen:
July 11: Mary Poppins (1964)
July 18: Beauty and the Beast (1991)
July 25: A League of Their Own
August 1: Jaws
August 8: E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
August 15: Jurassic Park
Each film will feature a pre-screening concert co-presented by Washington Performing Arts. Details regarding the performances will be revealed throughout the duration of the series.
