COLLEGE PARK ESTATES

7511 Wellesley Drive, Sunday Nov 1, 4pm

Join Drumlady Kristen Arant for DRUMspiration – not your average drum circle. This will be a percussion-heavy jam that includes many different kinds of instruments including handpan, xylophone, steel pan, guitar, flute, violin… so feel free to bring something to play along. At some point, Kristen will teach a rhythm and everyone is encouraged to participate in learning. We will be masked and socially distant and expect the same from you. Arrive at 3:45 if you plan to play. Set up a chair across the street or in the (nicely-sized) yard to enjoy. WEAR A COSTUME (please).

If you’d like to play but need to borrow a drum, contact Kristen prior through her website: www.drumlady.com

For those who can’t make it in person, DRUMspiration is also Live Streamed on Facebook from Kristen’s artist page: Drumlady Arts + Activism.

7401 Radcliffe Drive, Saturday Oct. 31

3:00-3:30 – Michael Jesse and Kyra

3:45-4:15 –  Professor Goldstein and the Adjuncts, A teacher-folk band with punk leanings, presenting School House Rock favorites!

BERWYN

4902 Quebec St., Saturday, Oct, 31, 6:30 pm

Taiko Drumming

College Park residents Kristen Koyama and Mark H Rooney are joined by Erika Ninoyu and Kota Mizutani to perform “taiko” – a celebratory Japanese style of dynamic drumming based in festival music tradition (“matsuri bayashi”) but infused with a contemporary sensibility. Often referred to as “full-body drumming”, the physicality of the techniques combine with the fluid movements to create a visual language. www.markhtaiko.com

This evening’s performance will be Halloween themed and live-streamed on the YouTube channel:
