  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial 1964 Independence Avenue SW. Washington, DC (map)

Co-hosted by MPA, the Memorial’s summer film series is part of the Foundation’s 10th Anniversary year celebration.

Starring the late Chadwick Boseman, Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, takes his rightful place as King of Wakanda. In 2018, this award-winning film became the first superhero movie to be nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.

The KanKouran West African Dance Company will perform before the 8:00 p.m. film start time. The free screening takes place on the lawn adjacent to the bookstore at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on the National Mall. Guests are encouraged to arrive early and bring a blanket or low-profile lawn chair. Parking is limited and use of public transportation is encouraged.
