Before and Still by Nekisha Durrett is a room filling installation that speculates the pre-colonial and modern day histories of a small swath of land in Washington, DC. With a desire to elevate the ordinary and mundane to the sacred and monumental, Nekisha uses text to position castoff materials and a supernatural presence as omniscient witnesses of the passing of time.
