George Walker
Our tribute comes to an exciting close with Beethoven’s Third Symphony, “Eroica,” a work illustrating the composer’s own spiritual quest towards heroism as he coped with deafness and found new triumph in his art and life. This program also features the Fourth Sinfonia by trailblazer George Walker—a Washington D.C. native and the first Black composer to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
