Described by London’s “Opera” magazine as, “A tenor who has the world at his feet,” American Michael Spyres has an ironclad technique and voice of burnished gold that have led to acclaim throughout Europe’s leading opera houses and concert halls and on many recordings. Between performances as the title character in Mozart’s “idomeneo” at the Metropolitan Opera, he makes his Washington solo recital debut, collaborating with pianist Mathieu Pordoy on a program to include “An die ferne Geliebte” by Ludwig van Beethoven, “Les nuits d'étè” by Hector Berlioz, and “Three Petrarch Sonnets” by Franz Liszt.
