Becky Hill & Friends

  • John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts - Millennium Stage 2700 F Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20566 United States (map)

Becky Hill is a percussive dancer, choreographer, and educator. She is a 2018 OneBeat alumna, a 2021 Strathmore Artist-in-Residence, and 2022 Artist-in-Residence at the John C. Campbell Folk School. Driven by curiosity, ongoingness and experimentation, Hill devises a sonic landscape that breaks the boundaries between music and dance. Bodies become instruments and intricate choreographies yield sound in a piece that highlights the value of community. Three tap dancers, two flatfoot dancers, and four musicians investigate the translation process prevalent in Appalachian old-time music to unearth experimentation tethered to tradition. Becky Hill will be joined by Gerson Lanza, Roxy King, Jesse Milnes, Daniel Coolik, Paetyn Lewis, Meredith Krygowski, Erik Spangler and Ben Nelson.
