The Spirit of Kwanzaa

  • Cramton Auditorium 2455 6th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20059 United States (map)

Performances: Dec 16 & 17 at 7pm-9:30pm

The Spirit of Kwanzaa is a winter holiday celebration that draws on the agricultural ceremonies of Africa. The Dance Institute of Washington has adapted the principles of Kwanzaa to portray the struggles and creativity within the Black experience. The production has been known to celebrate the holiday’s principles with dance, music, and spoken word performances.

The 2022 Spirit of Kwanzaa cast includes dancers of the wider DMV dance community! As we strive to bring the community together in different areas of work, this opportunity will allow patrons to see the talent in the District celebrate as one.
