Pay tribute to the oldest military decoration in the U.S. at the home of its founder, George Washington.

The estate's official National Purple Heart Day Ceremony on the East Lawn overlooking the Potomac River begins at 10:30 a.m. (weather permitting).

Attend a wreath laying at George Washington’s Tomb and a commemoration ceremony, featuring members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the National Museum of the United States Army.

Purple Heart recipients receive free admission 365 days a year to Mount Vernon. Members of the military receive a discount on daytime admission.
