With a nocturnal, funky, and cinematic sound, the music of Quiet Life Motel weaves together jazz harmonies, shimmering orchestral textures, and frolicsome grooves. The group is led by violinist and composer David Schulman, whose music has been called “mysterious and beautiful” by the The Washington Post. Schulman has written and recorded the theme music for NPR’s The Big Listen and BBC’s Americana. He has appeared frequently at the DC Jazz Festival and launched the ArtSounds series at the Hirshhorn Museum. Whether he utilizes an acoustic bass, percussion, or alto sax, Schulman loves to extend the shape and spirit of music in unexpected ways with original compositions. Join us on a journey of unexpected sounds in jazz improvisation.
