Three visionary artists, Deborah Renee Grayson, James Terrell, and William Watson each approach the depiction of portraiture and figuration in dramatically different ways, through medium, color, and scale. Though each of these artists’ vibrant perspective of black bodies has a unique point of view, the collective work positions the viewer firmly within the extraordinary world around us and the environment we live in.
