Cowboy Junkies are a Canadian alternative country/blues/folk rock band. The group was formed in Toronto in 1985 by Margo Timmins (vocalist), Michael Timmins (songwriter, guitarist), Peter Timmins (drummer) and Alan Anton (bassist). The three Timminses are siblings, and Anton worked with Michael Timmins during their first couple of bands.

In 2022, the group brought out Songs of the Recollection, a collection of performances of songs they loved by other artists, including David Bowie, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, and Gram Parsons. Four of the tracks were previously released, while the remainder were new to the album.
