Avon Dews

  • Montpelier Arts Center 9652 Muirkirk Road Laurel, MD, 20708 United States (map)

Avon Dews, a Washington DC native, began his musical career as a young man playing bass guitar in his family band, New Elements. Years later, he started playing around with the harmonica at first out of curiosity but found that with a little practice the instrument made beautiful music. As a professional harmonica player, Avon expanded his musical career by performing at several prestigious events including The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, The Arena Stage, Montpelier Arts Center, The American Market at the National Harbor, Maryland Special Olympics Benefit, 2015 Cherry Blossom Festival, the Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club, Westminster Presbyterian Church Blue Monday,  the Carter Barron for the DC Blues Society’s 28th Annual Blues Festival, and in 2022 the Carlyle Room in Washington, DC.  His style is classic, cool and jazzy with a little old school and a touch of funk and blues wrapped up in one. Avon’s performance is a must-see event to appreciate and experience the beautiful sounds that a skilled harmonica player can bring out of such a small instrument.
