Tribute to the Music of Stephanie Mills featuring Carmen Craven

Carmen Craven is an accomplished vocalist who has been singing, dancing, and acting since the age of two. Carmen is a native of Tampa, Florida who now resides in the D.C. Metropolitan area. She started her singing career in the gospel genre but has expanded her performances to other musical genres. In 1995, Carmen won a singing competition at Che LaBelle’s, a local nightspot in Philadelphia owned by, Ms. Patti LaBelle. As a result of winning that competition, from 1995-1997, Carmen toured throughout the U.S. and abroad with Ms. LaBelle as a background vocalist, performing to sold-out arenas for several television shows, musical legends (including Michael Jackson), and royalty in other countries. Locally, she has performed at Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club, The Carlyle, and The Blue Dolphin, to name a few. She has opened for national acts such as Russell Thompkins and The New Stylistics, Soul Generation featuring Cliff Perkins, Blue Magic, and Eddie Holman. Carmen has drawn local and national attention for her Tribute to The Music of Stephanie Mills. Her rendition of Stephanie Mills hit Home has drawn rave reviews from audiences both locally and nationally.
