Musiq Soulchild (born Taalib Hassan Johnson on September 16, 1977) is a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated American singer-songwriter who helped define the neo-soul movement of the early 2000s. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he crafted a signature musical style by blending classic '60s and '70s soul with contemporary R&B, hip-hop, funk, blues, jazz, and gospel.
