Come one, come all to the Surratt House Museum this Halloween season for a descent into the morbid mourning rituals of bygone days! The Civil War made death far more common and only deepened people’s longing for a connection with the spirit world. Together, we shall walk through the house and learn about the ways the living mourned the dead. We will also discuss the ways some people took advantage of those left behind. Additionally, we will explore some of the bizarre customs and surprising ways people used spiritualist practices to strive for social advancements. Register now, if you dare!
