Cellist Zlatomir Fung — the first American in 40 years and the youngest ever to win the cello prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition — has earned global acclaim for his technical brilliance and expressive playing. The 26-year-old joins the UMD Symphony Orchestra and Clarice Presents to perform Edward Elgar’s evocative Cello Concerto. The program also features Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, a folkloric, dramatic work that launched Stravinsky’s career and remains a crowd favorite.
