Makaya McCraven is a prolific drummer, composer and producer shaping contemporary jazz. His long partnership with Chicago’s International Anthem has produced nine bandleader albums in a decade, blending rock, classical, hip‑hop, R&B, trance, African traditions and remix culture. As a digital artist he reimagined Gil Scott‑Heron on We're New Again. The New York Times calls him “one of the best arguments for jazz’s vitality.” His 2022 LP In These Times was among NPR Music’s top ten releases.
