UMD Wind Orchestra Season Premiere Concert

  • The Clarice Performing Arts Center, Dekelboum Concert Hall 8270 Alumni Drive, Suite 3800 University of Maryland College Park, MD 20742-1625 (map)

Michael Votta, Jr., music director

Join the UMD Wind Orchestra for its 2025–26 season premiere—an exciting exploration of music inspired by nature and the human spirit. Anna Clyne’s Masquerade whirls with the festive spirit of London’s 18th-century pleasure gardens, while Michael Gilbertson’s Lands End evokes the windy, wooded cliffs and shipwreck-strewn shores of San Francisco. Ida Gotskosvky’s Poème du feu celebrates fire as a spring of life and the heart of human achievement, while Karel Husa’s Apotheosis of This Earth presents a much darker view of the human condition. The program concludes with J.S. Bach’s My Jesus, Oh What Anguish, a haunting and poignant expression of sorrow and compassion.
