The acclaimed Takács Quartet, known worldwide for inventive programs, has worked with diverse artists such as bandoneón player Julien Labro, actors Meryl Streep and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and poet Robert Pinsky. Members Edward Dusinberre and Harumi Rhodes (violins), Richard O’Neill (viola) and Mihai Marica (cello) record for Hyperion and teach as Christoffersen Fellows at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Founded in 1975 in Budapest, the quartet is now based in North America and tours globally. Their program pairs a piece by Grammy-nominated composer Carlos Simon with Haydn’s String Quartet in G Major and Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden.”
