Karen Kamensek conducts Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, a booming work for narrator and orchestra using text from speeches by Abraham Lincoln, along with Barber’s lyrical Violin Concerto featuring Johan Dalene. The program opens with Adam Schoenberg’s American Symphony and culminates in Gershwin’s enormously popular An American in Paris.
