Ohio Players

The Ohio Players came into musical prominence in the 1970’s as pioneers of street funk and underground R&B. After signing with Mercury Records in 1974 through 1977 The Ohio Players landed three consecutive platinum albums “Skin Tight, “Fire”, and “Honey”. Two number one singles on the billboard pop charts “Fire” and “Love Rollercoaster” and five number one R&B singles “Funky Worm”,”Fire”,”Sweet Sticky Thing”, “Love Rollercoaster,” and “Who’d She Coo”.

The Ohio Players traveled the world and produced more than a dozen albums and received 14 gold and platinum awards for their accomplishments. They are widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative funk bands of all time.

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Daryl Hall had an exciting 2023 on a solo tour with longtime friend and fellow Hall of Fame inductee Todd Rundgren. Hall also recently performed in front of 65,000 people at the historic American Express BST Hyde Park. A new season of his award-winning Live from Daryl’s House returned in November 2023 on Hall’s dedicated YouTube channel.

Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton toured recently to rave reviews. The Nashville Scene wrote, “Costello is proving he’s an indefatigable force of nature, and one of the greatest showmen in the history of rock ’n’ roll,” while in St. Louis the Riverfront Times concluded, “Elvis Costello showed St. Louis Friday that he’s earned his legend status.” The Imposters are: Steve Nieve, Pete Thomas, and Davey Faragher. They will once again be joined on the road by guitarist Charlie Sexton.

This Grammy-nominated band is not content resting on its legacy alone. Russell Thompkins Jr. and The New Stylistics are a Philadelphia soul group that received their greatest chart success in the 1970s. All their hits were ballads characterized by the falsetto of Russell Thompkins Jr. During the early 1970s, the group had twelve consecutive R&B top ten hits, including Stop, Look, Listen, You Are Everything, Betcha By Golly, Wow Break Up To Make Up, and You Make Me Feel Brand New, which earned them five gold singles and three gold albums. In 2004, Russell Thompkins Jr. left The Stylistics and formed his own group, Russell Thompkins Jr. and The New Stylistics. The group consists of Russell Thompkins Jr., Raymond Johnson, and Jonathan Buckson. The group continues to perform nationally and internationally before sold-out audiences. Russell Thompkins Jr.’s incomparable falsetto has often been imitated but never duplicated. Hosted by Mindi Abair and wine expert Eric Guerra, you are invited to a private pre-show event exclusively for VIP guests where you will be entertained and participate through a very special wine and music experience. In the annals of R&B History, the Whispers have earned a solid and memorable position as one of the World's Longest Running Vocal Groups.  Celebrating over 55 years in the industry, they are still performing at major concerts, private parties, weddings, and cultural events. They are the cream of soul, embellishing smooth romantic ballads such as "Lady," and "Say Yes," and upbeat dance favorites such as "Rock Steady," "And the Beat Goes On," and "It's a Love Thing."  As one of the premier groups to ever grace the stage, their musical success can be attributed to a careful balance of soul, pop, jazz, blues and disco to the delight of millions of fans. They began in 1964 with five, and had only one member change in 1973 of Leaveil Degree's addition due to Gordy Harmon's injured larynx. Then with the passing of Nicholas Caldwell and Marcus Hutson, they have continued to thrive with the trio of Wallace "Scotty" Scott, Walter Scott and Leaveil Degree.  They have 33 top ten hits, over 40 charted singles, and 20 multiple gold and platinum albums. In 2020, they released their social justice single, "How Long," now in 2021 they've returned to their soul roots with, "It's Been Too Long."  Their five decades of accomplishments have been acknowledged by induction into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame, and Bay Area Blues Society Hall of Fame. They have received the NAACP Image Award, the Black Music Academy Living Legends Award, the Governor's Award from the S.F. Chapter of Grammy, the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joseph Biden, The "Legends" award from the 2022 Black Music Honors, and Honorary Doctorates from the Christian Bible Institute of Houston, Texas.

Herman's Hermits are an English pop group formed in 1964 in Manchester and fronted by singer Peter Noone. Known for their jaunty beat sound and Noone's tongue-in-cheek vocal style, the Hermits charted numerous transatlantic hits in the UK and in America, where they ranked as one of the most successful acts in the Beatles-led British Invasion. The Southeast Tennis and Learning Center’s (SETLC) Annual Blacks in Wax living history program is one of the center’s most unique and successful educational programs, and 2023 Blacks in Wax marks the 16th year of the program. The theme for this year, Legends and Likeness, will honor and celebrate African American legends who have reached what seems like unattainable heights in their careers and work through activism, science, sports, and entertainment. 

Online advance reservations for a given performance date will open on a rolling basis, opening every Wednesday two weeks out from the date.

De Marcos first gained fame, in the US, as founder of the Buena Vista Social Club, an ensemble of legendary Cuban musicians assembled to revive the music of pre-revolutionary Cuba to its golden age. De Marcos established the Afro-Cuban All Stars to promote Cuba’s brilliant young musicians and highlight its veteran talent. Featuring a rotating, multi-generational cast, the group draws on the classic Cuban styles of son and danzón, along with contemporary dance rhythms like timba.
