This modern incarnation of traditional Korean folk music celebrates harvest time and provides a lively soundtrack to dancing. The ensemble is comprised of four types of percussion instruments—an hourglass drum, a barrel drum, a small gong and a large gong—each representing a natural element: rain, clouds, lightning and wind, respectively.

Dedicated to the Murasaki Duo, Pas de deux features 3 contrasting movements, each with its own characteristic theme. The first movement explores the Ancient Egyptian's interpretation of the horizons as the gateways of yesterday and tomorrow and the cyclical nature of eternity. The second, a tango, makes reference to Tristan und Isolde, before the piece ends with an energetic finale inspired by Bulgarian rhythm.
The program also features a wide and exciting variety of pieces by Price, Beethoven, Moeran, Bloch and Chopin. This is a performance that you will not want to miss!

This new opera inspired by the popular folk ballad THE TWA SISTERS, explores the eternal conflict between the opposing forces of love and jealousy; and why this ancient ballad resonates even more deeply today with the proliferation of social media and virtual sharing platforms.
With a tone reminiscent of Guillermo Del Toro’s popular cinematic fables, this opera sheds light on the joy, wonder, humor and pain in the relationship between sisters within a unique episodic structure which spans continents and centuries.
