Corteo, which means "cortege" in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.

The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.

Rogers most recently headlined his debut comedy special based on his sold-out live show of the same name, HAVE YOU HEARD OF CHRISTMAS?, premiering to much praise on Showtime. This success was on the heels of his standout performance in the revolutionary queer romantic comedy, FIRE ISLAND, opposite Bowen Yang and Joel Kim Booster. The groundbreaking film earned the Ensemble Tribute at the 2022 Gotham Awards and several award nominations including the 2023 PGA Awards, 2023 Emmy Awards, and the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards. That same year, he was heralded for his scene-stealing performance in the Showtime comedy series, I LOVE THAT FOR YOU, created by Vanessa Bayer and Jeremy Beiler. Rogers is also the host of the widely popular podcast LAS CULTURISTAS alongside Yang, which recently won ‘Podcast of the Year’ at the 2023 iHeartRadio Podcast Awards. The duo recently hosted their second annual Culture Awards at the Lincoln Center in New York in front of a live audience spanning over 3,000 people – with guest appearances that included Cate Blanchett, Ariana Grande, and Andy Cohen

UpSpring's annual winter show is another ridiculous romp with your favorite peddlers of pizzazz. This year's performance, based on the Hieronymus Bosch painting "Garden of Earthly Delights," will feature many delights (and one or two demons). Wind your way through an evening filled with treats and tricks, and stick around to chat with our artists. Featuring new work on trapeze, sling, and more. If the weather permits, we'll have fire spinning outdoors. This is a drop-in performance, so pop by anytime between 6 and 8pm to enjoy festive refreshments and catch an act or two.

Festival: July 19-22

The most successful performer to emerge from the America’s Got Talent franchise and Las Vegas legend Terry Fator will share a special program exclusively for the Puppeteers of America National Festival. Part performance, part discussion, and part Q&A, Terry will perform several pieces showcasing his amazing vocal abilities and share stories of his experiences in the national spotlight. Terry is eager to join puppetry colleagues on the campus which has been so important to the history of American puppetry, and he hopes to help inspire the next generation of puppeteers.

This event is in-person and will be live-streamed as well.
