Nibble Nibble Little Mouse…Visiting Darnall's Chance House

Darnall’s Chance With Hansel & Gretel

Most adults remember hearing the story of Hansel and Gretel lost in the woods after being turned from their home by their parents. They wandered around until they came upon a gingerbread house with the roof made of icing and the walls made of chocolate with gum drops. It turned out to be a trap laid by a wicked old witch to catch and eat little children. The story of Hansel and Gretel begins on a dark and scary note. Not your typical holiday fairy tale.

Prince George’s County has its own gingerbread house - Darnall’s Chance House Museum. Each year Darnall’s Chance is decorated as a Gingerbread House to celebrate the season. On December 15, children and adults are invited to visit and enjoy tea, dessert and take park in holiday craft activities. The children need have no fear, there are no wicked witches here. Only fun and games…and if anyone dares…the story of Hansel and Gretel.

Darnall’s Chance House Museum is located at 14800 Gov. Oden Bowie Drive, Upper Marlboro. The event begins at 2pm. For registration and price information, call 301-952-8010
