As people have been at home more these last few months, they have spent a lot more time in their kitchens. Kitchens have served as home offices, inspirational arenas to create a new recipe, and a gathering spot for families to convene and share in conversations. As 2021 approaches, there’s no better time than now to upgrade your kitchen into the home cornerstone of your dreams by pursuing one of the upcoming trends for next year.
Wren Kitchens, Europe’s number one kitchen retail specialist, has analyzed Instagram users in the US to predict the top 10 kitchen trends for 2021. Using social listening tool Linkfluence, they scanned Instagram posts in the US that obtained kitchen-related keywords and calculated top trends based on how many posts were associated with certain styles.
For kitchen colors, the top spots go to White, Black, and Green mono-chrome kitchens, as they received 48,753, 27,528, and 23,423 posts, respectively. The steadily used norms look to remain as go-to colors for kitchens next year.
The most popular style of kitchen going into 2021, with 44,458 posts, is Modern. Tracing back to its start around World War I, Modern kitchens generally include flat surfaces, geometric forms, and clean lines of structure. This more contemporary styling would incorporate simple colors, sleek designs, and appliances embraced with an unassuming aura. Second to Modern is the Farmhouse look, earning 20,364 posts, with a focus on natural materials and creating space for larger meals and more people to enjoy those meals. The third most popular kitchen style, with 16,186 posts is Country. It centers on rural characteristics, brighter colors and vintage keepsakes for decoration.
For kitchen features in the future, the biggest trend is Granite Countertops. At 49,619 posts, people are predicting this mainstay will stay as the main aesthetic in kitchens next year. Followed by Pantry cabinets, at 29,429, they are usually seen in older homes, but as the old becomes new again, they are positioned for a resurgence. Third are Quartz countertops, known for their extraordinary durability, landing with 23,652 posts.
