What’s Old Is New—And Open Again
Wellspring Manor & Spa Re-Opens to Treat Guests to Serenity, Luxury and Wellness—With A Touch Of History And Jazz
By Kevin Drummond
The stylish vacation home, Wellspring Manor & Spa, made its anticipated re-opening on July 9. It thrives to provide its patrons with the maximum in customized personal attention.
Located on a seven-acre wooded estate in Upper Marlboro, it prides itself on the slogan, “where elegance and simplicity meet.” Conveniently located only 15 miles from Washington, D.C, the sanctuary focuses on supplying the ultimate comfortable and enjoyable experience in a serene environment, creating a feeling of utter Zen, to rejuvenate and restore from the stressors of daily life.
COVID-19 forced the doors to close in 2020. But the manor has faced historic turns in the past.
Built in 1953 as a replica model of 16th and 17th century Prince George’s County homes, Larry Hogan Sr., father of today’s governor of Maryland, lived in the manor during the 1970s. It was vacant for eight years before Wellspring purchased the home in March 2018.
Today, Wellspring’s owners ensure that guests are pampered with a bevy of quality amenities. Features include a large five-suite property with fireplaces and sitting rooms, multi-course, chef-prepared breakfasts, private, expansive grounds, breathtaking art and wellness-centered spa treatments.
The Spa Sanctuary includes body, facial and foot treatments. Couples can experience tension release in the spa together and spa packages are available to groups.
Wellspring is an ideal place to hold events such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, bridal and corporate retreats, fundraising dinners, holiday parties and other special activities (held indoors or outdoors). Those who wish to exercise can take advantage of the scenic walking trails and onsite pool. Guests who enjoy culture can be treated to live entertainment and an onsite art gallery, which offers monthly Gallery Walks to view the diverse displays.
Wellspring has taken initiatives to ensure safety with its Stay Safe, Stay Well Program against COVID-19. Among the steps taken include extensive cleaning and sanitation protocols by staff that covers the whole facility, requiring that all overnight guests provide proof of full vaccination and participate in health screenings at check-in.
Visitors can enhance their experience with attractions in the nearby Prince George’s County region, including local restaurants, museums and historical mansions, wineries, regional parks, and other entertainment venues.
